Become an Instructor |
Have you ever felt that you would like the opportunity to help people enjoy a sport that you have found to be rewarding? Maybe you are looking for a little additional income doing something you enjoy with people that share your interests in motorcycling.
No matter your reason for wanting to become an instructor, the Motorcycle Ohio program is looking for individuals with the dedication, experience and people skills to help teach the Motorcycle Ohio Rider Education courses.
The IPC is a 55-hour course. Each IPC generally takes six days to complete: Saturdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and/or Sundays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Student teaching will be scheduled, with all student teaching completed within two months of the start date of the IPC.
The instructional portion of the IPC will consist of approximately 40 hours of time split between classroom and range. The purpose of this portion of the IPC is to teach the Instructor candidates how to teach the BRC to novice students. Besides the BRC curriculum, other topics will include background and organizational information, classroom teaching techniques, range coaching techniques and range management.
You must have taken the BRC within a 24-month period preceding your enrollment in the IPC. If you have not taken the BRC within this time frame, it is your responsibility to enroll in a BRC and complete that course before beginning the IPC. Please note that no other course such as the Experienced Rider Course (ERC) will meet this requirement. This requirement is to ensure that the Instructor Candidate (IC) has a working knowledge of the course structure, is familiar with the curriculum, and can perform all of the riding exercises.
Complete a home study assignment prior to the start date of the IPC. This assignment will take the average candidate approximately four hours to complete. The purpose of this home study assignment is to thoroughly familiarize the candidate with all written materials.
